Tree Pruning by Savvy

Tree Pruning done properly

Pruning is the most common job we do, and the one where skill shows most. A good cut heals well and keeps the tree strong. A bad one invites rot, weak regrowth and a bigger bill later.

Tyler looks at each tree and tells you what it needs, whether that is clearing deadwood over a driveway, lifting the crown so you can mow underneath, thinning a dense canopy to let light and wind through, or trimming limbs back from the roof and gutters.

We work from the ground up, climb where needed, and clean up every branch before we leave. Regular customers on larger blocks often book us to work through their trees in stages.

FAQ

Tree Pruning FAQs

Anything else, just call Tyler on 0432 079 937.

When is the best time to prune?+

Most trees can be pruned year round. Some species respond best to pruning in their dormant season, and Tyler will tell you if timing matters for your trees.

Will pruning hurt my tree?+

Not when it is done properly. We prune to recognised arborist practice, making clean cuts at the right points so the tree can seal the wound.

Do you top trees?+

We avoid topping because it causes weak regrowth and decay. Reduction pruning brings a tree down in size without the damage.

How often should trees be pruned?+

For most home gardens every two to three years keeps trees safe and tidy. Fast growers near buildings may need more frequent visits.

What is the difference between tree trimming and tree pruning?+

People use the words interchangeably. Arborist pruning means selecting and cutting branches at the right points so the tree heals well, rather than simply trimming or lopping branches to length.
